Choli, kurti or long shirt: choosing the top

The top decides how much of the skirt shows and how covered you feel. A bridal lehenga choli is cut to blouse length and puts the whole skirt and its border on display. A kurti or mid-length shirt reaches the hips and smooths the line at the waist. A long shirt, a floor-length peshwas or an open gown over the lehenga gives the most coverage and swings as you walk. Sleeves run from sleeveless to full length, and necklines from sweetheart and V to boat, round and high, with closed or open backs.

The skirt: panels, flare and fabric

The skirt carries the drama. Panelled skirts are built from kalis, tapering pieces such as 12 or 14 per skirt that fan out from the waist; a full-circle skirt swings more when you turn. A cancan layer can be stitched in to hold the flare out, so heavy embroidery lies flat. Bases include tissue silk, organza, net, raw silk, velvet and jamawar. The core of the work is dabka, zari, nakshi, salma sitara, kora, sequins and pearls, with zardozi, cutdana or tilla on heavier pieces.

Indian or Pakistani bridal lehenga?

The construction is shared; the styling often differs. Indian bridal looks tend to pair a choli with a dupatta draped across the body and pinned at the shoulder. Pakistani bridal looks more often add a longer shirt and wear one dupatta over the head, sometimes with a second across the arms. Either styling works with our designs, and changing the shirt length, sleeves or neckline is part of the Full Custom Design every bridal order can use. Changes that add fabric, embroidery or labor are priced and approved before work starts.

Colors for each event

Red and maroon remain the traditional colors for the main wedding day, whether that is the baraat or the pheras, worked in gold, antique gold or copper. For a nikkah or a daytime ceremony, a white bridal lehenga in ivory, white or off-white with silver or rose-gold work keeps things calm. The walima and the reception are where softer shades come forward: baby, tea and dusty pink in our pink lehenga range, or gold with ivory in the gold bridal lehenga edit. Bridal lehenga questions

What does a bridal lehenga cost?

Every design shows its price in US dollars. What moves it is the silhouette, the fabric and the amount of handwork. Any change you ask for that adds fabric, embroidery or labor is priced and approved before work starts, and Rush Delivery ($59) or Super Rush Delivery ($199) is added only if you choose it.

How far ahead should I order?

Normal Delivery is free and takes up to 3 months, so order at least that far ahead with a few days to spare. With less time, choose Rush Delivery or Super Rush Delivery. Count from the earliest event you will wear the lehenga to, not the last one.

Can I see my lehenga while it is being made?

Yes. Ask us on WhatsApp for progress photos and close-up videos during production, so you can check the color and the embroidery before it ships. Pale colors and metallic thread look different on every screen, so the real fabric on video is the safest way to judge them.

Would a gharara suit me better than a lehenga?

A gharara has two legs, fitted to the knee with a gathered flare below, while a lehenga is one full skirt with more volume. Compare the shapes in our gharara range for brides, or see every bridal silhouette in our Pakistani bridal wear.

Do you make lehengas for bridesmaids and guests?

Yes, in a separate range. Our lehengas for guests start from branded unstitched fabric bought directly from Pakistani labels and reach US addresses within up to 18 calendar days, with $9.99 delivery or free delivery on orders from $200. Rush Delivery and Super Rush Delivery are not normally offered on guest wear, so order those outfits in good time.
